RESUMÉ
Background
Michael Serbinis joined Critical Path in March 2000, and serves as Chief Technology Officer, responsible for research and development, marketing, presales and strategy. Mr. Serbinis has held key operational roles at Critical Path including EVP Engineering, responsible for all aspects of product development, and Chief Security Officer, responsible for all aspects of security.Prior to joining Critical Path, Mr. Serbinis co-founded DocSpace in 1997 to create a method whereby files could be sent, stored, and shared securely on the Internet with only a web browser. As Chief Technology Officer at DocSpace, he played a crucial strategic and technical role in helping to build and develop the company's core technology.
Prior to DocSpace, Mr. Serbinis worked at Zip2, where he created one of the first Internet search engines, later sold to AltaVista. Before that, Mr. Serbinis worked for Microsoft, where he developed smart network routing technology for very large scale networks. Mr. Serbinis also worked on high-temperature superconductor technology research, recognized internationally by Intel and NASA.
He holds a BSc degree in engineering physics from Queens University and an MSc degree in engineering from the University of Toronto. He is also the author of several patents in the area of Internet security and communications.
